Michael’s work deals with the contemporary climate of science, medicine and religion. Faux scientific theories are presented using graphics, figurative sculpture, and video in an attempt to illustrate the human condition. The theory and physiology presented in his work is bogus and fictional. The content of these dubious theories is a result of appropriation from such unempirical sources as phrenology, palmistry, and astrology combined with theology, juvenile humor and icons of pop culture.

The primary intention of his work is to subvert the physiology, psychology and anatomy of the subject in an examination of the intentions of our medical and religious practices. By placing the body in a variety of different scenarios, and by adorning the body with imagery, iconography and text he creates a narrative that expresses the human condition outside the paradigm of science and religion.
