Kireilyn really enjoyed the process of using a cell phone to create art. She states, “I have a lot more respect for cell phone cameras and features! The prospect of participating in this show intrigued me due to the fact that at various points over the years, I have employed chance operations and the concept of randomness into several photographic projects that I have completed. The use of my cell phone's camera seemed perfectly suited to this process of spontaneous and fluid seeing, composing and interacting with my everyday environment. So I released myself to its opportunities and limitations. As I encountered various places and lighting conditions I took some shots. Returning to abstraction and the simplicity of this small, handheld instrument was enjoyable and refreshing. And it kept me loose, while inviting me to continuously see.”
Kireilyn’s work employs a hyper-realistic sensibility, an intuitive approach to the medium using light and color and a finite sense of composition that supports the concept while still maintaining accessibility.
Light, space and time are the visual and conceptual sources of inspiration for Kireilyn’s photographic work. She explores everyday events, revisiting ideas which transform the mundane into the imaginative.
