15 Seconds of Fame
an online exhibition of
Cell Phone Art & Music
The mobile phone is primarily an instrument for the intimate sphere, strengthening users’ ties with friends, family and community. This exhibition attempts to expand recognition of the cell phone’s creative potential by encouraging experimentation with new public, interactive uses of the instrument. Some scholars may question the value of introducing leisure-associated technologies into the classroom, galleries or museums. This exhibition, 15 Seconds of Fame: An Online Exhibition of Cell Phone Art and Music explores a variety of ways cell phones can be used to enhance the creative process.
This exhibition show cases works of art and music created by our students and alumni to inspire, engage and challenge us to redefine our view of the cell phone’s uses and limitations. We hope to encourage the audience to view their cell phone as a creative collaborator rather than a slavish tool.
